Susan Kraus - a native Kansan who loves to paint.

Nature is my inspiration and the Flint Hills are my home.

​

As a very young child, my family drove to our grandparents' cabin in the Ramapo Mountains in Rockland County, New York. Even then I loved nature, the passing scenery, winding dirt roads, forests, and the cold, cold creek we played in.

​

During my teen years I drew portraits and took watercolor and photography classes. It was as a teen that I experienced Rocky Mountain National Park, which had me hooked on photographing the landscape, the changing light, and wildlife.

 

My husband and I  have since taken our kids to parks all across the US - me with camera in hand.

 

More recently, I have been applying myself to the study and painting of landscapes where I strive to create peaceful, interesting, uplifting art.
